The Headlines :

The Technical Accounting department is responsible for accurately preparing and reporting the business unit’s consolidated financial information to internal management and other stakeholders. Key customers include the finance division, executive team and Molson Coors.

The Technical Accounting Sr Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the financial reporting activities of the Technical Accounting team and leading the processes that monitor and assess the impact of accounting pronouncements (US GAAP) on significant transactions and our business. Supporting the financial reporting activities of the Technical Accounting team includes accurately accounting for the Company’s significant transactions and reporting the results that comply with accounting guidelines and company policies. This position will accomplish these objectives through individual contributions as well as coordinating and leading the efforts of other Technical Accounting team members.

The Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring, analyzing and assessing the impact of the initiatives, proposals and changes to accounting and reporting rules by the standard setters

  • Analyzing contract terms under US GAAP to ensure that significant transactions are appropriately documented, accounted for and disclosed

  • Assisting with preparation of materials presented to the disclosure and other governance committees

  • Leading the local implementation of accounting and reporting processes for global functions including month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and contributing to technical memos, financial statements and footnotes

  • Leading the performance of accounting and reporting requirements for ad-hoc accounting matters

  • Leading and coordinating the efforts of other Technical Accounting team members to ensure key departmental deliverables are accurate and timely

  • Demonstrating insightful use of financial analysis techniques, tools and concepts to help drive business results through fact-based decisions that consider the benefits and consequences of available alternatives.

The Qualifications:

Education Level/Experience:

  • Relative 4 yr. degree

  • A minimum 6 years of financial analyst experience with 2 years as both associate and intermediate experience preferred; prior public accounting experience preferred

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical ability to conduct research and perform data analysis to deliver business insights and make business recommendations

  • Strong ability to analyze complex contracts and business arrangements to determine the appropriate accounting treatment

  • Demonstrates appropriate understanding / working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls, and applies them to provide objective, timely, and accurate financial information to meet / exceed regulatory and legislative requirements and to help drive business results

  • Demonstrates the initiative to drive change and influence others in support of the organization’s goals and objectives

  • SAP knowledge a plus

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proven leadership skills

  • CPA or CMA preferred

  • Strong ability to work independently and within cross functional teams
