General Electric Sr Enterprise Application Engineer in Miami, Florida

Role Summary:The Digital Workplace Senior Enterprise Application Engineer will be responsible for working closely with the Digital Workplace Technology team to manage, maintain, and drive development of GE’s Software Asset Management platform that allow employees to self-service the provisioning, procurement, deployment, and license management of software & applications available to them.

Essential Responsibilities:The platform also enables administrative teams to manage the lifecycle of software license assets and entitlement, supporting GE maintain a robust, secure compliance position. As the Senior Engineer is this space, you will be responsible for both maintaining and upgrading the third-party platforms hosted by GE, and well as managing a team of offshore contractors to build upon a custom middleware component using for all upstream and downstream communication to and from the platform.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a development team with enhancements to C# batch programs, RESTful APIs and other day to day development tasks

  • Coordinate/manage development team to implement changes in the SAM tool driven by the needs of internal stakeholders

  • Be responsible for the health and maintenance of the Software Asset Management (SAM) application

  • Upgrade, patch, and maintain the core Software Asset Management (SAM) system

  • Monitor system generated status/error messages and maintain the health of the SAM tool SQL database on a daily basis

  • Manage the application database, coordinate with internal and external teams to resolve associated issues

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database and application issues, driving the resolution of larger issues through other internal GE teams as well as the SAM application manufacturer

  • Monitor status of daily batch jobs in the SAM tool to ensure data feeds in/out of the tool are performing at maximum efficiency

  • Responsible for monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting all data feeds into the SAM application and work closely with other technical teams to ensure all feeds out are accurate and fully functional

  • Monitor the application error logs, coordinate with internal and external teams to resolve associated issues

  • Work across multiple stakeholder communities and evaluate requests for enhancements, determining potential impacts with the current system design/configuration

  • Architect and design supportable technical solutions that meet complex requirements across all relevant stakeholders

  • Write and maintain all associated technical documentation and system change


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) OR in lieu of a degree: a HS diploma/GED and 4+ years of IT experience or equivalent military experience/training

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software engineering OR Master’s degree with 3 years of experience in software engineering

  • GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job

  • Must be willing to travel up to 5% of the time

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Miami, FL

Desired Characteristics:

  • Hands on proven experience with SQL database management and administration

  • Demonstrated experience building and utilizing APIs and web services (SOAP and/or RESTful)

  • Demonstrated experience with basic IIS Server Administration and RDP

  • Personal or professional experience using PHP, C#, Microsoft .Net

  • Experience with managing services and driving stability through automated monitoring, altering and actions

  • Strong knowledge of Cloud computing services like AWS, Google or Azure, and awareness of Cloud application migrations

  • Knowledge of IP Networking including VPCs, VPNs, VRF, DNS, Load-balancing and firewalls

  • Familiarity with source control systems such as git

  • Experience with building and maintaining data feed integrations

  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly diagnose problems and create action plans

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand new concepts and analyze system deficiencies

  • Passionate about security and the quality of the applications they support

  • Organized, thorough, and detail oriented

  • Collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
