Facebook seeks a highly motivated and experienced real estate attorney to serve as Real Estate Counsel. This full-time position will work closely with Facebook’s Global Real Estate and Facilities Team and will report to the Associate General Counsel – Real Estate. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and work in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

Required Skills:

  1. Support the Global Real Estate and Facilities Team with the expansion and maintenance of its portfolio of owned and leased offices throughout the Americas and APAC, and intermittently in the UK and portions of EMEA

  2. Negotiate office leases and related amendments and ancillary agreements and provide legal advice regarding their various provisions

  3. In some situations, support the purchase and development (or sale) of real property for office uses

  4. Provide legal support for the broad array of agreements and issues that arise in management of a large real estate portfolio, including agreements necessary to complete the design and construction of new offices and miscellaneous tenant improvements

  5. Counsel the business teams on the above matters, including: strategy and planning, insurance requirements, tax and regulatory considerations, dispute resolution (pre-litigation only) and public policy issues

  6. Closely manage and direct outside counsel as needed on the above matters

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar

  2. 3+ years of experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating transactions, including: office leases, purchase and sale agreements, real estate development and associated agreements, design/construction agreements, and performing real estate due diligence activities such as the review of title documents, surveys, and environmental reports

  3. Real estate drafting and negotiating experience along with business judgment and experience thinking strategically

  4. Experience managing projects simultaneously under deadline pressure
