SRI’s Center for Education Research & Innovation (CERI) is committed to bringing rigorous research and evaluation data to bear on important decisions concerning K-12 public education. We are seeking to hire a Quantitative Education Researcher who will work as a team member on multiple inter-disciplinary projects within CERI. Assignments will require contributions to multiple ongoing projects related to school reform, teacher quality, STEM education, digital learning and technology policy, and transitions to higher education and the workforce. As part of our work in this field, SRI collects and analyzes both original data (e.g., SRI-administered surveys and assessments) and extant data (e.g., data collected and maintained by districts or states). The Quantitative Research Analyst will coordinate with projects' Principal Investigators to assume responsibility of project management, data management and data analysis for projects of medium size and complexity. Responsibilities will include, in collaboration with more senior researchers, statistical programmers, and database developers:

--Working with the PI to develop project management, data management, and analysis plans for proposed work, including the identification of appropriate data and analysis techniques.

--Working with statistical programmers to clean data, prepare data for analysis, run descriptive statistics and run statistical models to validate and analyze these data

--Providing careful and clear documentation of data cleaning and analyses

--Contributing to the writing of research reports

--Data collection and data processing, including working with state and district level data offices to intake extant data and leading teams of staff members and/or temporary employees in data collection and data processing tasks

--Developing and implementing organizational systems to manage work flow

--Tracking project and research requirements (e.g., important deadlines, data security requirements, etc.)

--Communicating effectively across internal teams and with external stakeholders and collaborators

--Creating and maintaining a positive, cohesive work environment.

Candidates may be asked to provide a writing sample and a sample of data cleaning, analysis, and programming code during the interview process.

Qualifications:

--Bachelor's degree required with Masters in statistics, economics, public policy, or other related discipline preferred

--At least four years of relevant work experience, including experience programming in a statistical language (e.g., SAS, Stata, R), cleaning and validating data in preparation for analysis, managing complex data sets, conducting descriptive and impacts analyses, and managing projects and people

--Experience conducting quantitative social science research, leading to an understanding of the principles of sound research design and data collection

--Experience working in, volunteering in, or conducting research in the US K-12 education system preferred

--Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and desire to execute high-quality work

--Ability to balance multiple projects, prioritize tasks, take initiative, and adapt to client and school partner needs

--An interest in US K-12 education and a passion to improve education for all students

--Strong analytic and writing skills

--Desire to collaborate closely with project leaders and team members

--Desire to learn new professional and technical skills and increase subject matter expertise

--Experience with database applications (e.g., Access, Quickbase) and advanced skill with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel) desirable
