AR/VR Labs has the responsibility of developing and maturing new technology to a point where it can be introduced into hardware products. We do this by designing, fabricating, assembling, and integrating mechanical and electrical parts to deliver prototypes of new Augmented and Virtual Reality hardware devices. This is a full-time position based in our Menlo Park office.
Develop novel materials for optical concepts, display, camera and sensor technology
Customize and implement existing optical organic and inorganic materials and coatings
Support modeling, optimization and prototyping for next-generation optics and displays
Evaluate and characterize optical materials for internal customers
3+ years experience working with optical coatings and processing.
Optical Sciences, Physics, Materials or Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
Knowledge of optics including imaging, illumination, radiometry and colorimetry, physical and geometric optics, and polarization.
Knowledge of diffractive optics, optical materials, and thin films optics.
Knowledge of geometrical optics, aberrations, lens design and image forming.
Experience in plastic lens fabrication (diamond turning or injection molding).
Experience with optical metrology methods such as interferometry, image quality testing (e.g. MTF, distortion).
Experience in optical protective coatings such as PVD hard coating and anti-fingerprint fluoropolymers.
Experience in display laminations and characterization of optical film materials.
Advanced degree (Master or equivalent) in the field of Optical Sciences, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline with 3+ years of experience
Experience with experimental optics and laboratory work on setting up of proof-of-concept systems and performance evaluation
Experienced in data analysis and scientific computing using Python
Experience with light-matter interaction or light scattering in random media
Experience with optical design and optical field modeling methods and tools
