Software Systems Engineering Intern

Join the MITRE McLean engineering team and work with military experts and technology providers in support of a common mission to provide global secure enterprise network modernization and information superiority in support of the Warfighter. The engineering intern must have the flexibility to work across IT technology areas and the ability to quickly learn new technologies. The engineering intern will be expected to communicate results through well-written reports and briefings.
Minimum qualifications include:
Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in computer science or equivalent technical major
Continued record of academic excellence including 3.0 GPA or higher
Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Java, Python, and/or Perl) 1-2 yrs.
Experience with administration of Linux based systems and scripting
Basic understanding of agile software development methodologies; commercial cloud environment and virtualization technologies; TCP/IP protocol stack and knowledge of OSI Reference Model; network security technologies including firewalls and virtual private networks
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to obtain a DoD secret security clearance
Preferred qualifications include:
Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in computer science or equivalent technical major with three years of college completed ( i.e., rising senior fall 2020)
Experience with administration of Windows based systems and scripting
Experience with hosting of applications in commercial cloud environment
Possesses a DoD secret security clearance
- Students need to be currently enrolled and will be enrolled the following semester in a full-time in an accredited degree-seeking university program.
