Software Engineer - US Card Tech Decide Product

We are seeking talented, hands-on, engineering leaders to modernize one of the most critical

systems in Capital One’s US Card Business. Decide Product is the orchestration engine behind

Capital One’s Credit Card application process, executing about 277 million decisions per year.

We are responsible for making intelligent credit decisions and delivering a real-time digital

experience for new customers. Our team is made of engineers who are passionate about

improving technology designs, experienced in delivering highly available and highly-performant

systems, and thrive when faced with business challenges. We are looking for a great engineer to

join our team and deliver on our exciting roadmap.

In this role you will:

 Understand business problems, research and suggest contemporary solutions to those

problems, and deliver them to customers

 Own end to end feature delivery through the entire lifecycle

 Work closely with team members and mentor new/junior teammates

 Partner closely with other teams contributing to our project

 Identify gaps, issues, and bottlenecks, and work with the Tech Lead and Product Owner

to remediate them

 Balance non-functional requirements and business timelines in developing software

 Elevate the code quality of the platform and promote best practices in all areas

 Create extensible and reusable solutions

 Own the resolution of incidents and production issues

 Enhance our microservice architecture

 Bring in new ideas and technologies

Basic Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s Degree

 At least 4 years of experience in Software Development

Preferred Qualifications:

 Technical breadth in DevOps, the Cloud, database management,

streaming, and Restful APIs

 Technical depth in Java/Spring or another Object-oriented language

 Experience with delivering real-time, performant applications

 Experience with debugging and troubleshooting
