The Iowa Veterans Home is looking to fill an Plumber 1 to assist the state. The successful candidate will perform plumbing work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and related systems; performs related work as required.
Troubleshoot and repair all water and sewer piping throughout the facility according to proper codes and standards. Perform maintenance/preventative maintenance on facility steam condensate systems, assuring safe and proper operation.
Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic control systems for all steam, condensate and ventilation equipment. Perform maintenance/preventative maintenance on centralized heating and air conditioning systems.
Utilize test equipment, blueprints, schematics and specifications in troubleshooting hot water systems and air conditioning, chilled water systems, maintaining proper balance, chemical solution and water level. Maintain and repair fire protection sprinkler systems.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Experience equal to three years of full-time work in skilled plumbing;
licensure as a Journey Plumber or Plumbing Contractor;
an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting the completion of one term of study in a plumber's course at a recognized trade school for each six months of the required experience;
the successful completion of three years in an approved plumbing apprenticeship program;
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes two years of full-time work as a Trades Helper which involved plumbing duties.
