About The Opportunity

As a member of Manufacturing Engineering Team you will be reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer and your role as a Manufacturing Engineer will be supporting the day to day Canopies Operations Team at Luton.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all employees are fully conversant and compliant with the Company’s Health and Safety policies. Ensure that all relevant Health and Safety legislation is effectively implemented and managed.

  • Providing day-day support to manufacturing operations

  • Leading structured problem solving projects linked to day-day manufacturing issues

  • Updating engineering documentation to help maintain configuration control and help manage point of Introduction activities

  • Providing MRB (Material Review Board) support to existing programs to ensure any process deviation or product faults are reviewed and answered

  • Delivering permits for the controlled deviation from process

  • Reviewing production SQN’s (shop query notes)

  • Reducing process driven scrap and rework

  • The management of small capital and tooling projects

  • Support continuous improvement activities

  • Establish appropriate new process controls and improve existing ones

  • Provide customer facing support on improvement and RCCA projects.

Desirable Experience/Skills:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering subject

  • Experience of MRB and in providing frontline support to manufacturing operations.

  • Experience working to customer specifications and standards.

  • You should have some relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the aerospace industry.

  • Demonstrable experience of practical problem solving techniques

  • You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation and be flexible in your approach.

  • Ability to specify and purchase capital equipment or tooling

  • Experience of using the ‘hierarchy of controls’ in conjunction with statistical process control to maintain and improve the process

  • Specific training/experience in the application of lean tools

  • Knowledge and experience in use of Requirements Matrices, PFMEA or similar process life cycle management

  • Experience in working with suppliers of services and goods
