Major/Essential Functions:

The Addictive Disorders and Recovery Studies program in the Department of Community, Family and Addiction Sciences seeks an energetic faculty member to join a growing program. The faculty member must committed to the highest standards of scholarship and professional activities and to the development of a campus climate that supports equality and diversity. The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor student recovery, facilitate collegiate community seminars, coordinate collegiate recovery program replication, sustain community relationships with government, educational and private entities, liaison with community service providers, and be the point of contact for media requests. Additionally, a successful candidate will participate in service on campus-based committees, local, regional and state boards, and provide community education regarding addiction, recovery and prevention. The preferred applicant must be an active leader in the profession and have extensive experience in working with the Lubbock recovery/prevention community.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate related to addiction and recovery or a related field such as, family scholars, health professionals, mental health or social scientists with a demonstrated focus in addiction/recovery. A Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) with national and international credentials would also be a plus. Applicants are expected to have a record of service and engaged outreach within the community appropriate to the discipline/profession. Experience identifying and procuring community grants and participation in other grant related activities will be an important characteristic of a successful applicant for this position. This is a Security Sensitive Level I Position: Applicants for this position will be subject to a background check and may be required to be fingerprinted.
