Amec Foster Wheeler Business Development Manager - Angola and SE Africa in Luanda, Angola

Wood Group Kianda require the services of an experienced Business Development Manager to assist our business development activities and secure new business in The Angolan and Mozambican markets in line with the business goals, objectives and priorities of the corporate business.

The role is based in Luanda, Angola, starting early 2019.

At this stage we can only consider local candidates for this position.

Role based in Luanda but with regular visits to other locations within Angola and south, east Africa, also require regular visits to the UK


  • Collating and contributing data and information to the Wood Strategy and Growth Manager for incorporation in to the Africa Business Plan

  • Interface and liase with the Wood Strategy and Growth Manager and Operations Director for the region to co-ordinate resources and strategy

  • To effectively plan and utilise Business Development activity in consultation with the Wood Strategy and Growth Manager and Operations Director for the region to achieve targets

  • Participate in proposal preparation to ensure guidelines and key client requirements are incorporated in submissions

Reporting Function:

  • Develop long range 2-4 year look ahead

  • Monitor and report progress on reference targets

  • Maintenance of data sources including client data, competitor data, client debriefing and project data and progress

  • Propose plan for personal development, in conjunction with the Wood Strategy and Growth Manager for the region

  • Interface and provide input to Project Services & Estimating

  • Interface and liase with Business Development Managers in International Sales Organisation in consultation with the Wood Strategy and Growth Manager for the regions

  • Investigate and report on potential strategic alliance partners to the Wood Strategy and Growth Manager for the region

  • Ensure Company policy and compliance to the COBC is followed within Sales and Marketing Department

  • Achieve Business Lines Sales Targets

  • Own client responsibility

  • Monitor and identify key corporate clients, establish and maintain information and relationships

  • Set out and identify strategic alliances

  • Maintain and develop relationships with Joint Venture Partners, NOC’s and regulatory bodies

  • Participate in Amcham and the British Chamber of commerce events

  • Identify technology needs

  • Monitor and report on competitor situations and trends

  • Maintain necessary contact with Professional Bodies, and ensure good projection of Company's image to clients, public and third parties

  • To undertake duties as requested by the Wood Strategy and Growth Manager for the region

  • Investigate all local content and licencing requirements and ensure compliance

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified

  • Extensive level of overall experience in the oil and gas industry

  • Experience in Engineering Consultancy

  • Fully experienced in a business development role
