Contend Account Director in Los Angeles, California

Contend LA is looking for an Account Director to manage a growing relationship with a key client. The Account Director will provide overall strategic leadership and support for the business while identifying and cultivating opportunities for business growth. They will lead and build client-agency relationships by providing business leadership; leading brand, content, marketing and advertising strategy; and managing the agency team to ensure that the delivery of creative work is engaging and impactful. The Account Director will lead and serve as the clients advocate and will work to build long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with our clients. The Account Director will report to the leadership team.

The Account Director will play the primary, independent implementation role in the work we do for our clients in content, video production, social media, media and influencer marketing. Their primary responsibility is to drive and grow revenue with new and existing partners by providing solutions that build our clients' businesses and brands. The Account Director must have a deep understanding of the client’s objectives and strategies as well as the dynamics of the business environment. The Account Director manages senior client relationships and is accountable for the financial well-being of one or more accounts within assigned portfolio. The Director has impeccable judgment and the marketing acumen and acute business logic to steward all elements of the client relationship, including: conception, project definition, scope management, risk management, and team management.

Requirements

The Content Director will:

  • Lead, direct content recommendations and pitches to client(s) based on business and marketing objective and engages content subject matter experts to build plans including, but not limited to, content production, social media, influencer marketing, digital, media, insights, and measurement.

  • Provides thought leadership to help guide clients in the branded content, media and marketing space.

  • Owns senior level client relationships and works to contribute strategic value beyond day-to-day operation.

  • Responsible for senior to mid-level leadership/guidance to projects that are managed by PMs and AMs.

  • Accountability and fiscal responsibility for program budget management and profitability across all content disciplines throughout program execution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree Preferred

  • Experience Requirement (i.e. 5 yrs category mgmt or 3 yrs food brokerage):

  • 8+ years of related industry experience, preferably consulting, digital, video production, agency or direct marketing experience

  • 6+ years of demonstrated track record of developing senior level client relationships – strong client references are necessary

  • Experience managing a cross functional teams with a larger cross-discipline in the content/digital market

  • Leadership experience in coaching and mentoring others.

  • Strong experience in marketing and advertising, with particular emphasis in content/digital strategy, technology, and new/emerging trends

  • Previous experience in planning, monitoring and managing departmental budget.

  • Ability to lead a team effectively and provide direction to members on the team

  • Good understanding of project management with the ability to deliver interactive and offline communication initiatives and strategic brand management initiatives

  • Possesses strong knowledge of contract interpretation and negotiation

  • Ability to collaborate effectively at all levels and functions beyond accounts

  • Ability to handle a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment

  • Creative thinking and analytical problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
