The Senior System Engineer is responsible for the proper deployment, maintenance, management, and security, and troubleshooting of the company?s IT resources including end user support, servers, databases and internet connectivity. The Senior System Engineer?s responsibilities will include proposing, planning, testing, and implementing new systems and/or rebuilding existing systems as required; in addition to, management and oversight of third-party IT contractors and resources.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities * Server Management

  • Responsible for the virtualization platforms used by the company.
  • Hyper V Clusters.
  • Hyper V to Vmware conversions.
  • Containers.
  • Salt/Terraform.
  • Multi data center environment.
  • Experience with centralized configuration management using Salt, SCCM etc.
  • Monitor performance and implement performance tuning.
  • Patch Management
  • Storage/Backup Management

  • Responsible for company?s storage and backup procedures.

  • Fujitsu Storage System.
  • Fujitsu Blade servers.
  • SQL servers.
  • Web Servers.
  • Application Servers.
  • DMP,Veeam and Zerto experience.

  • Network Administration

  • Proper deployment, management and maintenance of company?s network resources related to LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VPN, Firewalls, Link Balancers, Application Balancers and Routers.

  • Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment and devices.
  • SFTP/FTP server management.
  • Document network problem(s) and resolution(s) for future reference.

  • Responsible for the proper management and oversight of company?s network security, including:

  • Managing, implementing and maintaining network security policies and procedures.
  • Administering and maintaining firewalls.
  • Managing, monitoring and updating malware prevention systems.
  • Monitoring security advisory groups to ensure all necessary network security updates. patches and preventive measures are in place to prevent and detect intrusion(s) including performing intrusion detection analysis.
  • Maintain networking system documentation related to network management protocols, networking architecture, authentication practices and security administration.

  • Project Responsibilities:

  • Working projects start to finish.
  • Develop project plan.
  • Secure IT-Ops team resources.
  • Report updates in timely fashion.
  • Meet project deadlines and time frames .

  • General Responsibilities

  • Review and update documented systems and network administration policies and procedures.

  • Document and report any comments, concerns or suggestions related to all company IT resources.

  • Become a senior advisor to the current IT system administrators.


  • Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience with Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V
  • 7+ years of experience with Windows Server 2008
  • Experience managing Active Directory, Windows Failover Clusters, SAN?s
  • Experience with Hyper-V/VMware Virtualization and managing virtual environments
  • Experience in supporting a mission-critical environment with high-availability requirements
  • Experience in scripting tools and languages (VBScript, PowerShell, etc.)
  • Experience with server troubleshooting tools and techniques (Lansweeper, Jira, PRTG)
  • Strong understanding of network technologies including Switching, Routing, Firewalls, Load-Balancing, VPN?s, QoS, VOIP
  • Strong understanding of common network protocols including FTP, SFTP, SSL, HTTP, HTTPS, SMB, ISCSI, DNS, DHCP, ICMP, etc.
  • Experience with Cisco/Juniper network devices including SRX Firewalls, Net Screen Firewalls, EX-Series Switches a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to be on-call on scheduled weekends and/or weekdays
  • Self-Driven, results oriented and motivated
  • Positive Attitude Qualifications/Education Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, IT or MIS, 7+ years of relevant technical experience, with Juniper, Hyper V and evidence of the following: a keen attention to detail, a strong customer service orientation and the ability to work as part of a global team.
