Exceptional opportunity for Law Students to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and diversified Law Department that is part of a progressive County Government!
The Law Department is seeking an unpaid first year, second year, or third year legal intern in either a full-time or part-time capacity.
Responsibilities may include case review; conducting legal research and analysis; preparing and reviewing legal documents; accompanying staff attorneys to hearings, depositions and client meetings; and other tasks of a similar nature or level.
Applicants must work well under pressure, have excellent written and oral communications skills, and be interested in government law and civil litigation. Previous experience in a law firm is desired, but not required. Candidates must be enrolled in an ABA accredited law school and should have a general understanding of governmental processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Westlaw required.

Employees can choose a contribution rate of 2.5%,5.0%, or 7.5%
Gwinnett County will contribute 7.0% of your pensionable earnings per pay period.
An employee is fully vested in 5 years. An employee can retire if he/she has reached the age of 55 and the sum of his/her age and years of service equals 65.
Deferred Compensation Plan
- If you contribute at least 2.5% of your base pay to the 457(b) plan, Gwinnett County will contribute an additional 1% to your Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (this is in addition to the 7% described above).
