IMMEDIATE OPENING FOR A PLANT MAINTENANCE / DIESEL MECHANIC!!

VOLT has an immediate opening for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join a leading manufacturer of precast pre-stressed products specializing in bridge girders, structural components for buildings and parking structures, and highway pavement.

This amazing company is seeking a qualified and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic for their Lathrop, California facility. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, honest team player. This position is somewhat of a hybrid; as the Plant Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for the Diesel Fleet Maintenance as well as Machine Maintenance. Qualified candidates must also have small tool experience, i.e., performing maintenance on small hand and power tools, such as power drills and other small, tools. located in Lathrop, Ca.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

  • Install, adjust and repair production equipment such as: Straddle Cranes, Mixer Trucks, Air Compressors, Man Lifts, Water Trucks, Batch Plant, Concrete Mixer and all equipment associated with productions.

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and operation manuals and follow step by step instructions.

  • Observe equipment and listen to sounds to determine proper functioning or identify cause of trouble.

  • Diesel (Tier 4) and gas engine experience required.

  • Repair/troubleshoot diesel, gas, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.

  • Repair and replace gears, drives, bearing, belts, chains, shafts, etc.

  • Maintain maintenance logs and inspections on all equipment.

  • Maintain repair cost log for all equipment.

  • Weld (ARC, MIG, and Gas Powered) and use cutting torch.

  • Repair electrical hand tools.

  • Operate a variety of hand/power tools to repair, grease, weld, cut, and change parts as required.

  • Electrical work including PLC troubleshooting, motor controls and circuit testing.

  • Perform general repairs to plant structure.

  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

  • Lock Out / Tag Out procedures.

Requirements / Education / Experience

  • High school diploma / equivalent or equivalent in training, education or experience.

  • Technical or vocational school certification or equivalent in training or experience.

  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, welding, or related fields.

  • Tools required for heavy mechanic / maintenance position.

Physical Environment

  • Lift tools, machinery parts and other objects weighing up to 75 pounds each

  • Endure intermittent bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, stooping and reaching

  • Standing for extended period of time

  • Able to work under extreme conditions such as hot or cold temperatures, noise, dust and dirt
