Insomniac’s premier annual event, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, is the largest multi-day music festival in North America, and attracted more than 400,000 fans over three days in May 2019. The company was founded by Pasquale Rotella, and has been based in Los Angeles since it was formed in 1993.
The Ground Control Festival Team member will change at least one person’s life while working if he or she is ready to put forth an extraordinary effort. Ground Control team members are amiable, empathetic, proactive and extroverted.
Attend orientation prior to doors opening
Welcome attendees at entrances and make everyone aware of Ground Control’s presence and purpose
Abide by assigned shift schedule, pump water at the free water refill stations and patrol the event zones at correct times with assigned group mates
Learn how to operate a two-way radio and perform emergency medical calls
Listen attentively to the radio and respond immediately to specific calls and requests
Assist distressed individuals when they are in need of a helping hand
Encourage attendees to seek medical attention when necessary and escort them to first aid centers
Exercise proper protocol when approaching and assisting attendees in need of medical attention
Comfort attendees who have lost their friends and try to find their missing group mates
Distribute free water bottles to dehydrated attendees or escort them to a free water refill station
Be able to recognize the signs of overdose, dehydration and discomfort when observing large groups of people
Memorize information provided by the event website, festival guide and staff guide to share with attendees
Understand evacuation procedures and locate safe refuge locations prior to the opening of each show
The Ground Control Team Member must be able to:
Offer exceptional customer service
Help attendees with a positive attitude and nonjudgmental outlook
Interact professionally with all levels of individuals in a courteous manner
Communicate effectively and enthusiastically while meeting new people
Share sensitive subject matter in-person and while using a radio
Excel in a teamwork-driven environment
Report to the Ground Control and Guest Services Managers and the Health & Safety Director
Customer service-related work experience is preferred
Experience using radios and ability to work under pressure in stressful environments is required
Energetic and focused personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines
Must be able to professionally interact with all levels of individuals in a courteous manner and de-escalate situations before they become unpleasant.
A reasonable level of physical fitness is required for this position:
Must be able to stand on your feet for up to four hours at a time and walk long distances
Must be able to lift up to 20lbs
Must be able to walk up/down stairs
