It is the responsibility of the Gatekeeper to create an environment that sets the stage for a theatrical experience from the time the customers enter the Cirque lobby of the theatre, through to the exiting at the conclusion of the show. The Gatekeeper utilizes improvisation and theatrical performance techniques while performing all duties to include, greeting, escorting, and providing clear directions to all customers of the Cirque Du Soleil show. The Gatekeeper performs all duties in accordance with departmental and hotel policies, practices and procedures as well as within the standards established in the company’s Missions Statement and Core Values.
Creates a theatrical environment as all customers enter the Cirque Du Soleil lobby and theatre by utilizing a scripted monologue that is delivered with finesse and entertainment flair.
Utilizes improvisation and theatrical performance techniques while performing all duties to include, greeting, escorting, and providing clear directions to all customers of the Cirque Du Soleil show.
Ensures the customer’s expectations are met while maintaining the performance aspect of the Gatekeepers role in delivering customer service and maintaining standards of safety.
Ensures the transaction responsibilities, i.e. the handling of tickets, seating of customers, answering questions, addressing customer concerns, etc. are handled in accordance with established procedures.
Interacts with other improvisational “Gatekeepers” in a constructive, non-competitive manner to achieve maximum entertainment value to the customers.
Maintains confidentiality of show’s performance techniques and illusions.
Maintains awareness of all of the company’s restaurants, services, shows and events and manages day-to-day relations with Managers in all venues of the company.
Recommends company amenities and provide clear directions to guests at all times.
Maintains the standard of appearance in coordination of the theatrical theme and costume.
Keeps the Director and Manager apprised of all unusual situations, customer concerns and other irregularities as required.
Assists in promoting the Cirque Du Soleil show at other venues as appropriate.
Perform all other job related duties as requested.
Minimum age of 18 years.
At least 1 year of experience in improvisational theatre and/or equivalent education with a major in theatre.
Previous experience in acting techniques to create a character while interacting with guests, delivering a scripted monologue providing directions and safety measures.
Excellent customer service skills.
Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
Previous experience in physical comedy and movement experience.
Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
