MGM Resorts International Electronic Technician - Technical Operations (ARIA) in Las Vegas, Nevada

The Electronic Tech is responsible for performing configurations and setups, repairs and maintenance in guest rooms, including but not limited to Internet, TVs, Lighting, and other automation systems.

  • Perform in-depth analysis, troubleshoot, and resolve all in-room technology (Control4, Enseo, Cisco, and DirecTV devices) including: lighting, to include dimmers and/or switches; motorized shade programming; input devices (3 and 6 button devices);network connectivity; A/V connectivity panels; TV; Internet access.

  • Partner with third party vendors for various devices/applications, including Bartech and Saflok with drivers and Control4 interfacing.

  • Answer and demonstrate in-room automation questions on items such as turning the lights on, opening curtains, operating the TV, changing the thermostat, etc.

  • Assist guests with connecting their devices to the A/V connectivity panel.

  • Perform initial phone troubleshooting and escalate to on-site VoIP technical resource.

  • Support the Wireless Access Point located in the room.

  • Perform related support with regards to lighting, maintenance and operation of guest systems.

  • Perform related support with regards to video; maintenance and operation nightly for performance and special requests.

  • Utilize Microsoft Terminal Client to remotely access servers and verify proper performance.

  • Create and modify Control4 programming using Control4 proprietary script language to enhance the guest experience.

  • Utilize SSH and Telnet protocols and commands to maintain standards.

  • Commission and maintain all Control4 devices including: System Remotes, Dimmers, Switches, and Touch Screens.

  • Determine and modify VLANs on Cisco Layer 2 managed switches.

  • Manage GBICs and their appropriate fiber connections in every room.

  • Provide third tier internet support; handle all special requests including Proxy Servers and VPNs.

  • Perform all other job related duties as requested.

Required:

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • At least 2 years of previous experience with audio visual troubleshooting, installation, and repair.

  • At least 2 years of experience in installing, upgrading and re-configuring desktop PCs.

  • At least 2 years of experience with Windows servers.

  • At least 2 years of experience evaluating performance issues on workstations and servers.

  • Working knowledge of LAN connections and protocols.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Able to lead and mentor a team.

  • Have interpersonal skill to deal effectively with all business contacts.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Working knowledge of all Windows Operating Systems – XP, 2000, NT; Microsoft Office products (Office97, Office 2000, Office 2003), using the Internet to resolve hardware/software related issues, and work order documentation.

  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • Previous Hotel/Casino experience.

  • Previous Experience with engineering automation tools.

  • Working knowledge of Hotel Systems such as hotel PMS, key systems, and in-room hospitality systems.

  • Previous experience a similar resort setting.
