It is the primary responsibility of the Bartender to mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks to guests and/or Service Employees. Bartenders are also responsible menu knowledge and taking food orders. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Mandalay Bay policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Mix and serve drinks following set standard recipes.

  • Oversee overall operation of the outlet bar.

  • Ensure products are properly prepped and bar is fully set up prior to service.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the bar.

  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet.

  • Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies, keeping bank secure at all times.

  • Maintain cleanliness of all equipment, tools, and supplies and ensure that equipment is in good working order.

  • Keep count of tickets and perform cash drops at the end of the shift.

  • Ensure correct product is utilized.

  • Communicate with managers, co-workers and guests in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees.

  • Perform all other job related duties as requested.

Required:

  • Ability to take initiative and exhibit flexibility.

  • Working knowledge of all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.

  • Working knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.

  • Working knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method and garnishes for each drink.

  • Excellent customer skills.

  • Have interpersonal skill to deal effectively with all business contacts.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have documentation of successful completion of the Bartenders Local 165 Joint Apprenticeship Training Program and have passed the craft exam related to the program.

  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both in written and oral form.

Preferred:

  • At least 6 months of previous experience as a bartender.

  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
