Regional Sales Development Mgr

Job Description:


Works within assigned region to drive new client growth and increase revenue by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships with key/target small and large businesses/non-profits. Identifies and helps to develop strategic relationships with partners or potential customers. Assists in the development of a strong pipeline of new customers through direct or indirect customer contact and prospecting. Responsible for entire business development cycle (prospecting, presenting partnership benefits and resources, implementation and handoff to District General Managers/AMs/CSLs.)


  1. Generates new leads and calls on companies with the aim of creating more revenue

  2. Teaches DGMs/CSLs how to generate new business

  3. Builds and fosters a network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth

  4. Identifies business partnerships that offer a strategic fit in support of Block’s business strategy

  5. Meets with customers and/or prospects to discuss their needs and outlining appropriate company services

  6. Follows established protocols resulting in targeted revenue increases

  7. Manages schedule to adequately cover assigned region effectively

  8. Schedules appointments, prepares and delivers presentations to clients, having researched their business and requirements. Adjusts content of presentations based on the client’s needs, but focuses all presentations on opportunities for employees to experience H&R Block, and the benefits of its products and services.

  9. Partners closely with DGMs to negotiate and implement business opportunities on an as-needed basis, as resources require. Includes discussion of customer needs, problems and/or complaints. Arranges for meetings between customers or prospective customers and representatives H&R Block when necessary.

  10. Hands off established leads/deals to DGMs/CSLs for implementation/ongoing relationship nurturing. Ensure DGM/CSL follow-up by including calls-to-action, dates, complete profile information, sources, etc.

  11. Completes follow up activities including maintenance of records to include activity and results reports, weekly work plans, monthly and annual territory analysis, documentation of contacts and results. Submits reports and maintains files as necessary.

  12. Maintains strong understanding of competitive and market forces affecting H&R Block and its ongoing strategy.


  1. Proven background in business development.

  2. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and to promote business partnerships

  3. Strong presentation skills.

  4. Solid track record of business-to-business revenue generating activities at a corporate level.

  5. Strong research and strategic analysis skills.

  6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and be able to cold call potential clients with confidence.

  7. Excellent organizational skills.

  8. Must be able to operate Microsoft Office and associated programs.
