THE POSITION

Discover the integrity, inspiration and value in your work by assisting families. Armstrong County Children, Youth and Family Services is looking for a Social Services Aide 1 to complete our team.

  • Full-time employment (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Monday - Friday with one hour lunch period)

  • Flexibility in work schedule is often required due to appointments that may be outside of the standard work schedule and could include weekends.

  • Must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

• Transports parents and/or children for visitations.

• Transports families, which include children and parents to medical appointments, therapy sessions, forensic interviews, and/or behavioral health appointments.

• Provides child care at agency office site, courthouse, and other locations

• Provides hands-on instruction on household management skills to clients, e.g., childproofing home (infant safety practices), cleaning, organization, pest control, etc.

• Participates in Child Safety Car Seat Training and maintains certification. Instructs agency staff, parents, and foster parents on the correct installation and use of child safety car seats. Able to lift and carry children.

• Manages the agency's "Infant Safe Sleep Program," including the distribution of Pack 'n' Plays

to families without cribs

• Schedules county vehicles for routine maintenance and maintains the cleanliness of assigned vehicle

• Performs related work as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:

  • Must meetPA residency requirement

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements- Graduation from high school;ORany equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Armstrong County. If no eligible candidates who live within Armstrong County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
