Sr Tax Research Analyst
The Sr. Tax Research Analyst located at our corporate office is an integral part of a centralized team of tax preparers providing tax preparation and review services to clients preparing their return through one of our virtual tax services. Prepares client’s returns and supports other Virtual Tax Preparers with their client’s returns to ensure an outstanding client experience. Performs independent research, analysis, and planning on complex federal and state tax issues. Researches, analyzes, evaluates, and answers tax questions from field management, tax professionals, and clients. Develops and writes training materials on advanced tax topics.
Assist with the training and support of virtual tax preparers.
Monitor and coordinate the day-to-day activities of virtual tax preparers.;
Download and complete client tax returns through a virtual platform (no face-to-face interaction).
Communicate with clients through a variety of mediums including telephone and email.
Analyze tax information provided by clients and deliver a timely and high quality client experience.
Demonstrate tax expertise by completing accurate returns and dedication to impeccable client service by providing timely and helpful responses to client inquiries.
Research complex federal and state tax issues to ensure client’s tax returns are accurate and complete before filing.
Plan, research, develop, and write training materials related to tax topics and tax advice.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Credential regulated under Circular 230 (Enrolled Agent, CPA, or Attorney) or CFP credential.
A minimum of two years experience in tax preparation and/or tax research.
Operational knowledge of tax law and regulations sufficient to understand and explain elements of personal, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, estate, gift, and international taxation.
Knowledge of tax research principles, procedures and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to effectively research complex tax issues and effectively communicate findings.
Ability to interpret, analyze and correctly formulate solutions to highly complex tax situations.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Writing skills sufficient to communicate technical tax information in a clear manner for educational and training materials.
Ability to clearly explain complex tax situations.
Effective project management skills to complete assignments on time and within budget.
Demonstrated critical conceptual and intellectual skills.
Ability to use a systematic approach in solving problems through analysis and evaluation of alternative solutions.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels within the company.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems
Proficiency with PC applications including but not limited to Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency with at least one online tax research tool (RIA, CCH, or BNA)
Knowledge of Federal and State tax administration to include litigation, tax compliance, and auditing.
Three to four years experience in tax preparation and/or tax research.
