Sr Tax Research Analyst
Monitors and coordinates the day-to-day activities of a tax research project team to identify and resolve tax related issues; ensures adherence to research standards. Provides training and assistance to Tax Research Analysts, Associates, and Assistants. Performs independent research, analysis, and planning on complex federal and state tax issues.
Monitors and coordinates the day-to-day activities of a tax research project team to identify and resolve tax related issues; ensures adherence to research standards; provides training and assistance to Tax Research Analysts, Associates, and Assistants.
Performs independent research, analysis, and planning on complex federal and state tax issues. Responsible for preparing complete and accurate tax returns for employees or members of a business client contractually engaged by the Tax Institute and providing exceptional customer service utilizing tax and document management software, phone and email. Researches, analyzes, evaluates and answers technical tax questions from field management and tax professionals.
Monitors and analyzes new tax developments to determine effects. Develops written analysis of new tax law, rulings, case law, and regulations for dissemination to field associates, other WHQ departments, and the general public.
Researches tax and financial issues and provides explanations, analysis and recommendations to other departments.
Evaluates tax questions received by mail, telephone and other electronic sources to ascertain exact nature of the issue, researches applicable tax law and regulations, makes recommendations providing best tax treatment for the client while minimizing Company liability.
Supports financial advisors by researching questions in the context of financial planning applications. Writes, edits, and/or proof reads the tax content for financial advisors.
Plans, researches, develops, and writes research projects and training materials related to tax topics, tax advice, or other financial issues. Ensures projects are completed within established time frame.
Coordinates, develops, and/or assists in researching tax issues to support other departments. Provides technical assistance as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field or and equivalent combination of education and experience. Credential regulated under Circular 230 (Enrolled Agent, CPA, or Attorney) or CFP credential.
A minimum of four years tax research experience.
Operational knowledge of tax law and regulations sufficient to understand and explain elements of personal, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, estate, gift, and international taxation.
Knowledge of tax research principles, procedures and techniques.
Understanding of financial planning principles, concepts, and practices.
Demonstrated ability to effectively research complex tax issues and effectively communicate findings.
Ability to interpret, analyze and correctly formulate solutions to highly complex tax situations.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Writing skills sufficient to communicate technical tax information in a clear manner for educational and training materials.
Ability to clearly explain complex tax situations.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group.
Effective project management skills to complete assignments on time and within budget.
Demonstrated critical conceptual and intellectual skills.
Ability to use a systematic approach in solving problems through analysis and evaluation of alternative solutions.
