Position Summary:The UAS Whalesong staff is looking for self-motivated, creative, and responsible student to serve as both an Editor-In-Chief and Staff Writer for the remainder of the academic year.This is a great opportunity for students interested in developing their current communication skills and gaining some professional experience while taking classes. All applicants must have a 2.0 GPA and maintain enrollment in at least 6 undergraduate credit hours, or 6 graduate credit hours for student employment during the academic year. 100%Write, edit, and assign articles for the online student newspaper. Lead weekly staff meetings, brainstorm article ideas with staff, and effectively communicate article deadlines to staff.Essential
Previous experience leading a student activities club, group, or activity is preferred.
Reporters are required to interact with their sources and must ask questions.
Reporters must be comfortable leading conversations with diverse populations.
Applicants must also be able to work under firm deadlines.
Unusual hours based on Whalesong production schedule. May include evening/weekend hours.
Student Employment Requirements
Must be a UAS student enrolled in a maximum of six credit hours throughout employment duration.
Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA throughout employment period.

This is a Student Assistant B ($9.50/Hourly) position and Whalesong this position has been allotted up to 15 work hours a week (30 hours a pay). All applicants must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA and maintain enrollment in at least 6 undergraduate credit hours, or 6 graduate credit hours for student employment during their academic year.
