JPMorgan Chase Software Engineer - Global Payments Technology in Jersey City, New Jersey

As a member of our Software Engineering Group you will dive head-first into creating innovative solutions that advance businesses and careers. You’ll join an inspiring and curious team of technologists dedicated to improving the design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming that goes into creating high quality software and new products. You’ll be tasked with keeping the team and other key stakeholders up to speed on the progress of what’s being developed. Coming in with an understanding of the importance of end-to-end software development-such as Agile frameworks-is key. And best of all, you’ll be working with and sharing ideas, information and innovation with our global team of technologists from all over the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Working on a Payments application development team and exhibit an understanding of the design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming to satisfy business and functional requirements.

  • Responsible for timely and high quality of deliverables

  • Focusing on project priorities and key milestones and raising questions to clarify roadmap and requirements to ensure successful deliveries

  • Clarify and defend architecture and design decision and ensure they are practical and feasible to implement.

  • Attains excellent track record in test coverage and code hygiene.

  • Collaborate with technology peers and product owners and lead collaborative efforts to ensure a successful end-to-end project delivery

  • Ability to translate functional requirements to technical design and requirements

  • Perform code reviews, develop and review test scenarios in collaboration with QA

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

  • Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines

  • Understanding of architecture and design across all systems

  • Working proficiency in developmental toolsets

  • Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams and individuals throughout the firm to accomplish common goals

  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages: Core Java, Object Oriented, RDBMS (Oracle), SQL, Spring, ORM (JPA/Hibernate) and Unix Scripts; web development and modern JS Frameworks (JavaScript, HTML5, Ember or Angular)

  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance and software improvement

  • 5+ years of experience with hands-on development and design skills and a proven record of managing small to medium sized teams.

  • Experience in architecting and building secure, highly available, resilient, scalable systems leveraging clustering and load balancing of web (Apache), app servers (Tomcat) and messaging systems (Kafka or MQ Series)

  • Knowledge of container based development, orchestration, microservices frameworks and tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, Jersey, Swagger) is a plus

  • Experience using Big Data frameworks and NoSQL DBs (Cloudera, Hadoop, Cassandra or H-Base) as well as aggregation and streaming frameworks (Storm, Spark) is a plus

  • Banking and payments domain background is a plus
