Dietary Supervisor Job Responsibilities:

The Dietary Supervisor will oversee dietary staff, ensure timely delivery of quality food service with an emphasis on food safety and satisfaction. This role requires strong working adherence and knowledge of state regulation, sanitation, hygiene, quality food preparation, supervisory techniques, estimating requirements, purchasing food, and managing the kitchen and storeroom. This and all positions in our facility will abide by all Iroquois policies and procedures as they pertain to specific duties. Adhere to resident’s rights, dignity and abuse regulations. Manage resident safety, standard precautions, basic principles of infection control, fire and emergency drills and corporate compliance.

Dietary Supervisor Job Duties:

  • Serves as Supervisor. Supervises all phases of production to ensure accuracy in portions, counts and diets
  • Check pantries after Breakfast and Lunch to be sure proper sanitation procedures are being followed
  • Check Units for compliance of procedures. Check for accuracy, temperature, and that employees are ready to serve, etc. Test cooked foods by tasting and smelling; inspects food for attractiveness, palatability and temperature. Fills out Quality Control report on each meal
  • Emphasis on sanitation and clean up of all areas of the kitchen, including all equipment
  • Responsible for training staff in all various job assignments
  • Evaluates day personnel with assistance of the Director of 3-month, 6-month and yearly intervals
  • Ensures that adequate Policies and Procedures are in place and followed within the dietary department
  • Will be responsible for ordering bread, milk and produce, etc
  • Inspects the kitchen daily to be certain all foods are being rotated; that all food is covered, labeled and dated, and proper storage techniques are being followed
  • Supervision of all food service staff
  • May fill out production sheets for the cooks and production personnel
  • Fills out sanitation checklist

Performs related tasks necessary to fulfill the needs of the Nutritional Department.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Supervisory experience is required; preferably in long term care
  • Minimum 3 years supervisor/management experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2-4 year degree in related field is a plus
  • Relevant certification is a plus

Shift Detail:
