The CalAtlantic Group Operations Manager in Irvine, California

POSITION TITLE: Operations Manager

DIVISION/LOCATION: SunStreet/Irvine, CA

REPORTS TO: SVP of Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:

Monitor solar field operations for California solar communities. Ensure proper solar installations per SunStreet Energy plans and specifications. Assist in solar training of builder division staff and trades. Troubleshoot field operation issues as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately track and report the build and quality process of each division within assigned markets in the region

  • Demonstrate control and knowledge of workloads for Field operations team and identify the need for staffing resources to Director of Operations in advance

  • May require significant travel to support and manage multiple markets

  • Evaluate installer capacity and make recommendations for work assignment

  • Write and execute work agreements and distribute to installation partners for upcoming communities

  • Review and approve Field modification requests

  • Oversee the safety and quality programs for Sunstreet field operations, installers, and regional offices.

  • Knowledge of permit submittal process at local Jurisdictions

  • General understanding of OSHA guidelines & internal reporting procedures

  • Understanding of Solar and electrical codes and ability to deal with AHJ and City inspectors

  • Ability to identify, track and correct quality issues with installation partners

  • Expert knowledge of SunStreet’ s products

  • Understand OSHA Guidelines and ensure that trade partners are adhering to the guidelines

  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to quickly reprioritize tasks as required with changing circumstances.

  • Expert knowledge of utilities associated with primary communities, with basic knowledge of other utilities' procedures

  • Capable of working with multiple Divisions and keep organized files on new developments in upcoming quarters

  • Ability to write and execute key documents that are distributed amongst departments for training purposes

  • Oversee, train and lead Solar Field Technician

  • Able to coordinate and lead pre-construction meetings

  • Demonstrate professionalism and ability to interact with Senior leadership of installation partners

  • Ability to coach and train installation partners on new products and processes

  • Ability to oversee, train and lead Solar Field Manager

  • Ability to manage queue and work assignments, capable of communicating challenges to both team members and management

  • Capable of training colleagues on processes and procedures

  • Demonstrate ability to interact professionally with SSEG & Division Leadership

  • Can serve as team leader during manager's absence

EDUCATION AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • 2 years residential customer service

  • Valid, unrestricted Motor Vehicle License

  • Proof of Auto Insurance

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel daily with potential overnight travel based on territory

  • Must have a reliable vehicle for travel

  • You will need a credit card to book your hotel and cover travel expenses

  • Mileage and travel expenses including meals will be reimbursed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This is a field position which requires operating a motor vehicle. Candidate must have a good driving record and provide own motor vehicle. Most time will be spent on construction sites with the need to occasionally access rooftops. Must have the ability to climb ladders, wear fall safety equipment, perform duties at heights above ground level, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry objects weighing 40 pounds or less. Finger dexterity required to operate a computer keyboard, calculator and telephone equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry office materials and supplies weighing 25 pounds or less. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. May be required to operate a motor vehicle.
