General Electric Sr Staff Software Engineer - C++ and Power Systems in Hyderabad, India
Role Summary:Responsible for development and successful delivery of advanced transmission network application software to meet corporate project/product commitments. The responsibilities include: designing highly complex/ domain intrinsic modules, components or a whole application/product in its entirety and driving the design and development efforts related to architecture, scalability, availability and performance in alignment with the product/application roadmap.
Essential Responsibilities:•Provides domain and/or technical leadership to a team of electricity transmission network application software engineers.
•Contributes and leads electricity transmission network application development in the context of customer commercial projects and ensures related software deliveries are on schedule, within budget and meets or exceeds customer satisfaction expectations
•Promote and demonstrate best practices and high quality software development processes
•Writes documents for new project tasks, such as Design notes, testing procedures, etc.
•Works with the Team lead and Group manager to allocate and re-assign staff resources as needed
•Provides effort estimates for new project tasks
•Supports sales efforts through tendering, customer demos and customer training
•Acts as a coach / mentor to grow and develop junior staff
Qualifications/Requirements:•Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with thesis or related work in power systems
•Requires Twelve(12) years of experience in transmission network applications area, out of which minimum 8 years of experience in application development
Desired Characteristics:•Excellent programming skills in C++, Java or other related language, as required. Good understanding of database operation.
•In-depth understanding of the EMS software.
•Expert level knowledge of power systems and/or energy management systems with focus on transmission Network Applications like State Estimation, Contingency Analysis, Optimal Power Flow, Distribution and Outage management systems or Dispatcher training Simulator
•Experience in tuning various advanced power system applications
•Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
•Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
•Continuous improvement oriented – actively generates process improvements; champions and drives change initiatives
•Highly organized and efficient; able to balance competing priorities and execute accordingly
•Strong oral and written communication skills
