General Electric Sr Manager - Software Engineering in Hyderabad, India

Role Summary:You will be responsible for designing and programming a small module or a large component and designing a feature, set of features, or whole feature area. She/he will work independently and contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across business. She/he will Lead design discussion in a limited manner.

You will deliver mainline and patch releases for a large SCADA/HMI product.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • In this role, you will:

  • Provide hands-on management for software engineering scrum teams responsible for delivering mainline and patch releases of a large SCADA/HMI product for the industrial internet.

  • Possibly play the role scrum master for your team and work closely with product managers, ensure good product quality and consistent velocity for the teams.

  • You will be responsible for hiring, coaching and mentoring a team of software engineers (4 to 16) with the goal of building a cohesive, autonomous team, able to work through technical, schedule and interpersonal challenges.

  • In collaboration with other scrum teams, you will evolve and adopt best practices across the SDLC, including story definition, development, automated testing, continuous build and integration and story acceptance, with the goal of continuous improvement towards building a high performing team.

  • Manage strategic business partnerships and relationships with vendors as needed.

  • Expect to spend a third of the time each in the areas of people management, technical reviews and project management.

  • Be an experienced voice in guiding architecture and design decisions.

  • Work with the team in resolving customer escalations.

  • Troubleshoot and remedy availability/performance issues

  • Participate in on-call help as needed that will include development staff

Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). A minimum 8 years of professional experience.

Prior leadership experience is required.

Desired Characteristics:Technical Expertise:

  • Expert in working in an agile software development environment

  • Experienced in developing and delivering sustainable, scalable on-premise and cloud applications

  • Must have worked on solutions deployed on Windows and Linux

  • Prior programming experience to include C++/Java/Javascript

  • Comfortable setting up and working with CI/CD environments

  • Experience with container technologies like Docker

  • Demonstrated coding skills, preferably in C++, Java and Javascript

  • Demonstrable knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases

  • Experience working with High Availability and Fault Tolerant architectures

  • Well-developed analytical skills

  • A strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
