Safran Certification Engineer II in HUNTINGTON BEACH, California

TITLE: Certification Engineer II (Job Code: RM1002)

DUTIES:

Responsible for using stress analysis techniques to ensure that interior monuments pass the various load tests. Use this information to work closely with designers to design the lightest weight unit that will pass the load tests. Coordinate activities concerning Airworthiness authorities certification testing and documentation. Secure Airworthiness authorities approvals for all items necessary to support Supplemental Type Certificates (STC). Assist airframe manufactures needs to certify new aircraft. Prepare certification plan to be coordinated with Airworthiness authorities. Coordinate with Project Engineers, Stress Engineers, Fire Properties Engineers, DER’s and Airworthiness authorities for test plan and report preparation and approvals for static test/analysis. Coordinate activities via schedule to assure test article and/or samples are prepared to support testing schedule. Coordinate with DER’s, DMIR, DAR’s and FAA for conformity and compliance issues for parts and installation into the aircraft. Assure all documentation is support of the certification is completed and coordinated with all parties involved. Responsible for proper handling to assure accurate recording and filing of the originals for STC related acquirement. Coordinate with Quality Assurance department to apply for PMA.

REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related academic field plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or closely related occupation.

ALTERNATE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related academic field and 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or closely related occupation.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered.

Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/knowledge cannot be “quantified” by “time”. Required expertise/knowledge includes:

  • Technical knowledge about Boeing/FAA and Airbus/EASA airworthiness regulations and technical specifications;

  • Technical knowledge about aircraft industry standard certification practices;

  • Technical knowledge about industry standard CAE software, especially Cosmos, FEMAP, NASTRAN, OptiStruct, Radios, and/or Hypermesh;

  • Reading and analyzing technical reports and drawings.

OTHER: Job Site: Huntington Beach, CA. 40 hours/week. If offered employment must have legal right to work in U.S. EOE.
