About the Role
If you have a strong mainframe technical background or have in depth knowledge of IBM’s pricing & licensing methodologies or business rules, AND you are someone who loves a challenge, this role may be just for you. IBM Techline North America is looking for a highly-skilled and dedicated Techline Technical Sales Specialist to work in an Agile environment supporting our zSoftware clients and sellers with MLC, IPLA, Renewal SW, SCRT, OOCoD, CMP, Container pricing and licensing. Our client base includes all mainframe clients and sellers in North America and covers every business industry.
As an Techline Technical Sales Specialist , you will assume primary responsibility for working with sellers and clients to provide pricing and license information, solution, product and technical information as well as taking the lead role in assisting clients and sellers with renewal quotes and interact with Q2C admin team to resolve clients invoicing issues. You will spend much of your time solving client problems but also use the WLPricer and CFSW configuration tools, Shopz, IBASE, LDW, etc. to help sellers with renewal quotes, client deployments, and sub-capacity utilization. You may be asked to assist an MLC seller with projections for ELA proposals, HW upgrades and consolidations, etc. and/or assist IPLA sellers with providing accurate renewal baselines, and client quotes and creating deployment reports.
Demonstrate understanding of basic mainframe concepts around IBM’s pricing and licensing methodologies, such as MLC, IPLA, SCRT, CMP, Containers, etc.
Have experience working directly with mainframe clients and be comfortable discussing their environment with them
Be capable of researching and articulating your findings which should lead to client resolution and satisfaction.
Engage with sellers and clients to providing validated renewal quotes.
Resolve customer billing issues associated with MLC and OTC licensing problems – liaison with Q2C admin team, Sales, and IBM Techline account management to plan correct course of action.
Understand, and be able to articulate to clients standard licensing methodologies, business guidelines, deployment processes with the objective of lowering deployment risk and accelerate time to value.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Technical knowledge in IBM Pricing and Licensing methodologies and offerings.
High attention to detail and solid knowledge of existing processes / systems is critical.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, detail-oriented approach to problem solving.
Ability to interact directly with sellers and clients with a deep understanding of the mainframe environment.
Ability to support cross brand / functional teams.
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
A demonstrated level of business acumen as it relates to the value of System Z to the client's business is critical.
A demonstrated level of understanding and proficiency regarding enterprise software targeted for the System Z environment.
