DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to building a sustainable community and enhance the quality of urban life by providing safe well-maintained parks and offering affordable programming for our community. To achieve this mission, HPARD is seeking a Parks Maintenance Aide to join its Greenspace Management team. Potential Candidate will play a key role in:
Picking up litter and debris.
Performing basic cleaning of park facilities and monitors supplies in restrooms.
Reporting any problems or hazardous condition that will prevent a safe environment to the public.
Performing additional assignments as required.
This position is designated among essential personnel under the city of Houston Emergency Management policy.
There are routine exposures to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air condition. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.
Very fundamental levels of ability to read, write and follow simple oral instructions as might normally be acquired through up to 8 years of formal schooling.
No experience is required
Must have a valid driver's license and comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. Applicants who can work Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, and Holiday Shifts. Applicants that have experience in landscaping, gardening, and park grounds maintenance.

Pay Grade 4
Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
