Barrios Technology Integration Engineer in Houston, Texas

Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for an Integration Engineer on the Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

MAPI provides program support related to strategic and tactical planning, engineering analysis, manifest development and hardware certification, safety and mission assurance, risk management, information technology, payload integration, program science and research. This includes support of mission and program integration and necessary infrastructure operations functions for the International Space Station (ISS). MAPI has the potential of supporting other NASA programs or projects via task orders.

  • Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems (formerly Orbital ATK) on the CRS1 contract in Houston, TX and Virginia

  • British Petroleum (BP) in Houston, TX

The Integration Engineer will:

  • Collect and analyze International Space Station (ISS) on-orbit stowage data systematically, using Excel or similar program(s), to model current and future stowage trends.

  • Design, develop, and maintain a repository for all stowage related data to aid special studies and continued trending.

  • Identify areas of improvement, develop project plan to implement process efficiencies, and execute as planned.

  • Provide issue resolution for strategic and tactical stowage issues using ISS operations experience and empirical data to support solutions.

  • Explore innovative solutions to collecting and presenting data, as well as methods for completing daily tasks.

  • Oversee waste integration between cargo vehicles and NASA.

  • Analyze waste/disposal projections and trending to aid in efficient waste/disposal planning.

  • Coordinate with International Partners to resolve stowage related challenges.

  • Present analysis results and recommendations to MAPI management and NASA customer in one-on-one meetings and/or panels/boards.

  • Provide internal coordination within MAPI to assure integration between Strategic and Tactical disposal functions and in support of future capabilities such as Manifest Re-engineering.

  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years engineering experience.

  • Minimum three (3) years International Space Station (ISS) experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint), with intermediate to advanced level experience with Excel.

  • Flexibility to adapt to new development tools and technologies, demonstrate innovative thinking, and be a self-starter with a proven ability to work independently.

  • Show initiative, be proactive, and engage in self-study in order to meet product deliveries and provide innovative solutions to issues.

  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills in groups or one-on-one settings.

  • Must be able to understand discussions during technical briefings.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and independently.

Preferences:

  • Prior Inventory Stowage Officer (ISO) experience.

  • Excel coding experience, specifically VBA.

  • User level experience with SharePoint.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.

  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.

  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.

  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.

  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.

  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.

  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.

  • Must be able to support domestic/international travel as required.
