Gyrodata Electro Mechanical Technician (CONTRACT) in Houston, Texas

Job Function / Purpose

  • At the direction of the Production Group Lead or Team Leader, learn how to perform maintenance, repair, testing, tracking, storage, loading and unloading of tools, equipment and supplies in the Gyrodata, Inc. warehouse; maintain a safe shop environment; and assist the senior technicians performing their operations.

  • Repair, maintain, troubleshoot and test bench level mechanical and electrical precision downhole oil well guidance equipment using schematics and electronic test equipment.

Essential Duties

  • Achieve Proficiency in the following tasks as defined in the Gap Analysis Report:

  • Perform warehouse duties for all product lines and tools

  • Unload tools and equipment returning from the field and follow procedures established by the Production Group Lead regarding post-job processing, including: tracking, cleaning, disassembly repair, testing, assembly, maintaining, and storing

  • Load and pack tools and equipment going to client jobsites

  • Gather, assemble, test, and load tool kits

  • Operate, assemble and test down-hole tools and equipment

  • Assist Logistics Coordinators with transportation and maintain shipping crates

  • Assist the Production Group Lead or Team Leader with asset control and inventory reporting

  • Perform safe operation of forklift

  • Perform runner services, including hot shots

  • Maintain inventory and stocks consumables in shop as directed by the Production Group Lead

  • Comply with warehouse workflow processes and safety guidelines established by the Production Group Lead and suggest new processes to improve warehouse efficiency

  • Advise, train and mentor new Electro Mechanical Technicians

  • Perform general warehouse duties, including boxing, cleaning, labeling, and organizing and any other duties requested by the Production Group Lead or Team Leader

  • Use strong knowledge of both analog and digital circuit theory to troubleshoot analog and digital circuitry to component level using schematics and electronic test equipment

  • Perform electronic and environmental testing of new production survey systems

  • Repair in-house field survey systems (gyroscope, magnetic, or other) to the component level

  • Assist, mentor and train Electro Mechanical Technicians

  • Use skills and experience to improve and innovate Engineering Department projects

  • Achieve Awareness and Competence in the following Assembly functions

  • Assemble bench level mechanical and electrical precision downhole oil well guidance equipment using hand tools

  • Repair in-house equipment to support field operations

  • Hand solder and troubleshoot wire harnesses

  • Assemble and repair thru hole and surface mount printed circuit boards

  • Solve problems, analyze and apply judgment through troubleshooting with tools on precision downhole oil well guidance equipment

  • Assemble, maintain and repair new and existing products according to drawings, schematics, written and oral directions

  • Use skills and experience to improve and innovate Engineering Department projects

  • Comply with all Gyrodata, Inc. safety and training requirements and providing corresponding documentation

  • Represent Gyrodata, Inc. in a positive and professional manner and communicate clearly with client representatives

HSE Function

  • Cooperate with management in promoting, developing and maintaining a safe place of work and safe working practices, meeting all applicable health, safety and environmental requirements

  • Report any work methods, equipment or conditions considered hazardous and submit suggestions to remedy the situation

  • Drive defensively at all times observing posted speeds and traffic signs and adjust driving as needed to meet road conditions

  • Report any accident or incident (including near misses) that could have caused injury, damage or loss of production

  • Be aware of hazards in the shop; wear necessary safety clothing; use appropriate safety equipment; maintain equipment in clean and serviceable conditions; immediately report any faults

QA Function

  • Comply with applicable quality assurance standards and maintain a safe working environment

  • Report any accident or incident (including near misses) that could have caused damaged or loss of production, poor quality or increased repair costs

  • Support Incident investigation teams

Required Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral English communication skills

  • High School Diploma, GED or regional equivalent

  • Valid driver?s license and clean motor vehicle record

  • Valid local port entry identification, such as Transportation Worker Identification Credentials

  • Ability to work non-office hours and weekends as necessary

  • Ability to record data and demonstrate good record-keeping skills

  • Ability to perform duties according to on call schedule

  • Ability to use basic hand tools

  • Ability to use a computer for accessing and sending e-mail, opening and revising documents, accessing internet and web-based Gyrodata, Inc. systems, including SharePoint, HRIS and ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift certification

  • Electrical or mechanical associates degree or trade certification

Working Conditions

  • The job is performed in a shop or warehouse environment with some exposure to safety hazards, potentially including cold, heat, noise, machinery, electricity and chemicals that may require wearing protective equipment and compliance with specific safety protocols. The job requires physical exertion including sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to sixty (60) pounds, carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting and a range of physical motion. The job requires operation of tools, machinery, equipment, computers and telephones. The job requires following written and oral instructions, attention to detail, ability to multitask, ability to work with others and ability to meet deadlines. The job requires following established policies and procedures, meeting quality and safety standards and regular attendance.
