BHTS is Bechtel Hydrocarbon Technology Solutions which is the home for Bechtel OG&C’s technology licensing and process consulting services. BHTS is focused on technology evaluation and front-end engineering studies such as analysis of licensed technologies, capacity studies, review of emerging technologies, process integration (e.g. cracker integration with refinery) new technology, facility optimization and the like.
BHTS is in need of a Chemicals Technologist to assist the Chemicals Technology Manager including supporting or leading the following activities:
Lead conceptual petrochemical studies (FEL0 thru FEL2) including:
Kick-off meeting and liaison with client.
Technology transfer/interaction with licensors.
Preparation/oversight of study process deliverables: BFD/PFD; H&MB; EQ List; options analysis; etc.
Review of other engineering deliverables: plot plans/preliminary 3D models; equipment mechanical data sheets; one line diagrams; controls strategy/specifications; etc.
Estimating support including transmitting project data and review.
Process economic model input: catalyst and chemical requirements/costs; operations manning; raw material requirements; utility requirements; etc.
Oversight of final report; facilitate Management Review; and deliver to client.
Support OG&C FEED and EPC Activities
FEED studies development or support where applicable.
High level review or support including: P&ID reviews; HAZID/HAZOP; 3D Model reviews; etc.
Maintain knowledge of petrochemical field: technology development; prospective projects; attend/make presentations at conferences; patent/literature searches; and others.
Process Engineering (Chemical Engineer)
Process design; flow sheet development; heat and mass balances; equipment sizing/specification/data sheets; process simulation.
OPEX analysis cost of feedstocks, catalysts, utilities, maintenance, shift manning requirements, etc.
CAPEX understanding of plant capital cost estimating principles and the technical inputs requirements; review of estimates
1. Substantial and extraordinary technical knowledge in general petrochemical process and technology of primary interest including: Olefins - steam crackers/light olefins, metathesis, propane dehydrogenation ; polymer processes - polyethylene, polypropylene, PET, PVC, and others; vinyls chain- EDC/VCM; aromatics - benzene extraction, xylene Isomerization/separation; PTA purified terephthalic acid; acrylic acid; oxo alcohols; methanol; and others.
2. Although not essential previous experience in an operations environment (such as operating company experience or secondee to an operating company) or chemical unit start-ups is desirable.
3. Skill in oral and written communications.
