The Role:

The Director of Accounting is responsible for the day-to-day management and continuous operation of the accounting organization for the Division, with the primary focus on the General Ledger, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Vendor Management, Inventory accounting and Cash Management functions. This position is responsible for ensuring an appropriate control environment, adherence to established policies and procedures while driving operational efficiency across all responsible areas, managing departmental participation in Corporate initiatives impacting departments and providing ongoing leadership and functional oversight. This position reports to the VP Finance and interfaces directly with senior operations management of the Company.

Responsibilities:

  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.

  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.

  • Prepares documentation and analysis to respond to internal and external auditor requests

  • Prepares budgets by establishing timelines; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; and reviewing with senior management

  • Helps the Company achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.

  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.

  • Fulfills accounting and financial operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results and performance

  • Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications:

  • BBA in Accounting and CPA preferred.

  • Major ERP system experience required, Oracle Financials preferred.

  • Ten to Fifteen years of experience in a large, high volume accounting environment required. High volume transactional processing experience required.

  • Ten plus years of prior management experience with strong leadership abilities in managing and developing teams, with the ability to create clear goals, foster accountability, and ownership, while encouraging delegation at appropriate levels.

  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor and positive attitude in a fast paced, continually changing business environment.

  • Strong problem resolution skills and experience in dealing directly with internal customers to manage and meet expectations for delivery of services.

  • Ability to transform strategic goals into project plans and meet defined deadlines.

  • Strong knowledge of internal control requirements for transactional processing required.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills – both written and oral.
