JOB SUMMARY:

The Surgical Patient Care Associate is a multi-skilled staff member who advances through the Memorial SPCA Training Program to become a vital perioperative support team member under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Essential Duties :

  • Performs treatments and patient care procedures.

  • Performs or assists ADLs according to Patient Plan of Care.

  • Performs or assists in procedures/treatments according to Nursing Policy and Procedure Manual.

  • Responds to patient call lights and emergency lights in a timely manner.

  • Documents care provided according to hospital policy.

  • Provides care according to developmental age.

  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary for the patient/customer appropriate to neonate, child, adolescent

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Nursing Assistant or surgery experience preferred;

  • Surgery Specific Education: Memorial SPCA Orientation Program

Licensure or Certification:

  • American Heart Associations (AHA) BCLS Certification required.

Experience:

  • Six months experience preferred

Equipment/Skills:

  • Use of general patient care equipment and communication equipment.

  • Use of unit-specific equipment (computers, copiers, etc.).

  • Good telephone and communication skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in health care technology.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Use of appropriate PPE and Safe Patient Handling Devices

Scheduled Hours per 2-week Pay Period 75

Weekends Required Occasional
