Job Description The Day & Ross Transportation Group is currently seeking a full-time Planning Coordinator for our Freight division in Hartland, NB.

The Planning Coordinator works collaboratively with Planners to ensure the safe, on-time, and efficient movement of loads and trucks while minimizing empty miles and wait times within a designated group of drivers.

To be successful in this role, you will exceptionally complete the following (not an exhaustive list of responsibilities):

  • Communicate with assigned fleet of drivers over phone and satellite

  • Support the Planners in assigning and lining up loads and deliveries including preplans based on Broker information

  • Assist in monitoring scheduled runs to ensure they are on-time; advise Brokers, Customer Service, and/or Planners and Truckload Administrators in relevant regions of any changes

  • Participate in identifying trucks as they arrive at deliveries or terminals that have not already received a preplan

  • Update terminal power board to ensure accuracy

  • Ensure drivers follow company procedures including, Bills of Lading, Proofs of Delivery

  • Monitor broker and drivers’ home time and vacation time, personal time in the system.

  • Advise drivers on the management of miles to ensure productivity targets are met

  • Promote driver friendly atmosphere on and off the road

  • Other related duties as may be required

To be qualified for this role, please ensure your resume clearly displays some or all of the following:

  • Education – minimum high school; a suitable combination of education and experience may also be considered.

  • Experience in transportation or operations would be an assist but not a requirement.

  • Experience using MS Outlook, Excel & Word; web based programs, AS400 would be an asset; must possess the aptitude for learning new programs

  • Strong customer service focus, relationship building skills

  • Good communication skills including the ability to relay information (verbal and written) between several parties and deliver a positive customer experience

  • Exceptional judgment and decision making

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills, the ability to evaluate current situation, respond quickly to changing requirements, execute and escalate accordingly

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced , deadline-driven setting

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline driven environment; appropriate sense of urgency

  • Ability to collaborate with others to meet customer expectations.

  • Excellent English (written/spoken) required; French is an asset

The working environment can include long periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer and on a phone.
