Position Description:

The Tier 3 support candidate will provide third level support to troubleshooting issues on the network and supporting the customer. The Tier 3 support candidate will provide support in a 24/7/365 Network Operations Center (NOC) environment and report to the Shift Supervisor. The Tier 3 candidate will receive escalated incidents received by Tiers 1 and Tier 2 personnel and will resolve them accordingly. Tier 3 areas of support include network management, enterprise operations monitoring, and network incident service response.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for troubleshooting tickets received from Tier 1 and Tier 2 support personnel as well as escalated incidents that are received from other outside sources, such as application issues, other end user issues, facility issues, etc.

  • Responsible for fault monitoring of all operation devices on the network as well as other devices across the enterprise using Cisco, InfoBlox, OpNet Appliances, Routers, Switches, etc.

  • Responsible for all performance monitoring of all operational services using SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Riverbed.

  • Respond to alerts incoming from enterprise monitoring system.

  • Troubleshoot and identify performance problems impacting J2EE, Net, Web Services, and thick clients.

  • Responsible for capacity monitoring of all operational NOC services.

  • Must report any discovery of a capacity alert and initiate a ticket that follows the appropriate procedures.

  • Maintain the network baseline.

  • Provide network analysis support, which shall include, but is not limited to ensuring accurate incident reports and analysis of these reports to determine root cause and emerging trends in the environment.

  • Provide technical requirements analysis and recommendations concerning current, potential, and interfacing services associated with the NOC.

  • Responsible for network documentation management.

  • Work with a variety of Government and contractor personnel to troubleshoot and resolve issues including Service Desk, Security Operations Center (SOC), Enterprise Operations Center (EOC), and local area staff throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations. Provide information to the Shift Supervisor to meet reporting requirements.

  • Apply industry and Government standards and best practices, as appropriate.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

Education and Certifications

  • Associate-s Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field from an accredited university

  • Bachelor-s degree preferred

Knowledge and Experience

  • 5-15 years of experience providing IT support and customer services

  • Service Management experience and familiarity using the ITIL and/or CMMI framework a plus

  • Must have experience troubleshooting advanced network issues and identifying resolutions

  • Must have experience with enterprise performance monitoring, e.g. Solarwinds, Cisco Prime, Riverbed

  • Must have experience with Database alert monitoring, e.g. Oracle, SCCM

  • Must have trouble ticket management experience (ServiceNow experience a plus)

  • Must have enterprise capacity monitoring experience, e.g. Riverbed, New Relic

  • Must have enterprise network event management experience, e.g. Solarwinds, SPLUNK

  • Flexible/adaptable to NOC environment

  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Current Secret clearance a plus

  • Current DHS or USCIS suitability a plus
