Essex Internal Medicine, ProHealth Physicians, has animmediate part-time (approx. 24 - 27 hours per week) Monday, Thursday andFriday (7:30 am -5:00 pm or 8:00 am – 5:00 pm) opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Certified/RegisteredMedical Assistant to join our team.
The Certified/RegisteredMedical Assistant supports the Care team and its patients through patient care,clinical and administrative tasks including patient intake, receiving andresponding to patient phone calls, and documenting patient interactions.
The MA performsduties within their scope of practice delegated by, and under the supervisionof, a provider or physician.
Performs allduties within the scope of a Medical Assistant’s practice
Performs EKGsand other office testing
Performsquality control checks on equipment
Rooms patientsaccording to policy and procedures, prepares patient for examination
Records patientcare documentation in the medical record accurately and in a timely manner
Coordinatespatient care as directed by physicians, company standards and policies
Respectspatient confidentiality at all times and treats patients with courtesy andrespect
Organizes examand treatment rooms, stocks and cleans rooms and sterilizes instruments
Practicesstandard infection control precautions
Telephone andin-person screening limited to intake and gathering of information withoutrequiring the exercise of judgment based on clinical knowledge
Carries outstanding orders consistent with ProHealth’ s policies and procedures
Schedulestests, treatments and follow-up visits on behalf of patients
In advance ofthe visit, perform Pre-visit Preparation to confirm that all needed informationis available
Informs new andexisting patients/families about how to access information about theirhealthcare team
Ensures allpolicy and procedures are followed including infection control, patientconfidentiality and privacy
Activelyparticipate in regular team meetings and quality improvement activities
Responsible forconducting outreach to patients identified on monthly clinical performancereports
Provideeffective communication with all patients
Performs allother related duties as assigned
High school graduate or GED equivalent
Medical Assistant Certification – CMA or RMA requiredwithin 120 days of hire
Basic computer literacy
Experience working with an electronichealth record
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of ICD - 10 and CPT coding
Physical & MentalRequirements:
Ability to lift, push or pull >35 lbs. with assistance
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to use fine motor skills to operate equipment and / or machinery
Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and / or in writing
Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
Occasionally requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids
Ability to discriminate shades of color when reading dipstick
