Position : Flight Software System Tester

Location : Greenbelt, MD

ASTS is looking for a Flight Software Systems Developer responsible for the design, integration, and implementation of all the flight software for the WFIRST, the Wide Field InfraRed Survey Telescope mission in support of its Software Engineering Services -- II (SES-II) contract at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, Maryland. WFIRST is the premier mission for NASA. It is a NASA observatory designed to settle essential questions in the areas of dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics.

Job Description:

ASTS is looking for a Software Tester responsible for the design, integration, and implementation of all the Flight Software in support of its Software Engineering Services -- II (SES-II) contract at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, Maryland.

The successful candidate will assist the WFI flight software Test Lead in the build and system testing effort of the WRI flight software. This work will involve all phases of the test effort, including test scenario development, test implementation, test execution, test summary, test write-up, and follow up test support. This work will also involve lab configuration, lab management support, simulator configuration, simulator development, test tool development, and documentation of products. As part of supporting project integration and testing execute white box and black box level tests and system level testing. The candidate will participate in task reviews, mission-related meetings, technical interface meetings, and FSW team meetings. Present Software status at reviews as required/requested.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Support the design, integration, and implementation of all the Flight Software

  • Provide expert advice and support during the entire life cycle of system development

  • Provide Flight test and operational support

  • Support and conduct test activities

Requirements:

  • BS, Aerospace Engineering or related area of Engineering or Computer Science

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience to include test and evaluation experience.

  • Experience in testing and writing automated tests, consolidate test cases; manage test runs, track test results, and measure progress

  • Experience with GIT Distributed Version Control System

  • Experienced working within a team of testers and developers.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall testing methodologies

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with proven track record of attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Experience with JIRA to plan, track and manage agile testing

  • Experienced at executing tests - to include functional testing (front-end and back-end and performance testing)

  • Experienced at maintaining project documentation

  • Experience in Systems Engineering or Software Engineering

Desired experience:

  • Familiarity with System Test & Operations Language (STOL) for automate functions and data processing with testing embedded flight software.

  • Familiarity with Record Definition Language (RDL) part of the ASIST system in testing embedded flight software.

  • Knowledge of On-orbit Satellite Operations
