Peraton Corporation Database Engineer - Space Missions in Greenbelt, Maryland
We are seeking a Satellite Database Engineer in Greenbelt, MD to join our team at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, supporting the Omnibus Multidisciplinary Engineering Services II (OMES-II) contract.
The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation program that acquires and distributes global environmental data primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites. The program plays a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which support the Nation’s economy and protect lives and property.
This is an engineering position working with the Mission Operations Support team (MOST) on JPSS.
What you’ll do…
Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the verification and validation of satellite databases to support the JPSS Mission Operations Support Team (MOST)
Support the MOST in meetings with vendors with regards to database contents
Coordinate with spacecraft, instrument, and ground system vendors as required
Provide support during database installation and testing of post deployment checkout
Coordinate with NASA I&T engineers to understand developments during spacecraft assembly
Interface with other spacecraft Subsystem SME’s as well as Spacecraft and Instrument SME’s for database feedback
Support the development of database-related software tools
Support other duties as assigned
You’d be a great fit if you have…
A Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years or more related experience; Masters and 2 years or more related experience
2 years of Spacecraft subsystems or operations experience in operations or I&T
2 years of experience/proficiency with tools/languages such as XML, Perl, etc
