We are seeking students to join us from January 2019 – June 2019 for a full-time (40 hours a work week) opportunity to gain practical experience in software development and data infrastructure.

Position Overview:

Avigilon is seeking a Data Science Co-op to build a data infrastructure of the purpose of cataloging, managing and curating datasets for the purpose of training and evaluating computer vision and machine learning algorithms.

Responsibilities include:

  • Process image and video datasets through various algorithms and tools

  • Design and implement data storage solutions for videos, images, and associated metadata

  • Develop web applications for data management and data annotation

  • Develop evaluation metrics and tools for computer vision and machine learning algorithms

  • Design and implement processing strategies for large amounts of data


  • Strong Object Oriented design and programming skills

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as: Python, C++, JavaScript and C#

  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases

  • Experience handling and processing large amounts of data

  • Experience building web applications and services

  • Experience developing software on Windows and Linux

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with machine learning and computer vision algorithms

  • Familiarity with deep learning platforms such as: Caffe, Tensorflow and Caffe2

  • Familiarity with data mining and visualization

  • Familiarity with cluster management and computing frameworks such as: Apache Mesos, Spark, Hadoop and Storm

  • Familiarity with cloud SaaS, PaaS and IaaS offerings.

  • Familiarity with graph databases
