House of Blues Production - Summer Intern - 20 Monroe Live in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Job Summary:

The Role:20 Monroe Live is in search of a highly motivated, organized and most importantly, enthusiastic individual who is interested in working within the heart of the live entertainment industry. As a Live Nation Entertainment Production Intern, you can expect to develop your production skills in all areas including but not limited to live sound, lighting, video, staging, backline, hospitality and more. You will gain valuable, real-world experience in the live entertainment industry. This position will report to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Working on-site during events with the production team, this opportunity exposes the intern to all the key functions of a venue production department

  • Perform the duties of loading and setting up all gear including lighting, audio, staging, backline, video, SFX, décor, wardrobe, hospitality, and more

  • Assisting audio engineers to setup microphones, stands, cabling, patching the stage, running a line and sound check, and live sound reinforcement during an event

  • Assisting lighting designers to setup lighting, video, backdrops, scenic pieces, SFX, rigging, completing a lighting focus, and running all lighting for an event

  • Practice setting up, testing, and operating com for show calls

  • Demonstrate the ability to use the scheduling system to draft schedules.

  • Demonstrate the ability to write pass sheets for the day of show.

  • Operate spotlights and assisting in set changes, as needed

  • Assisting the Production Assistant with hospitality, catering, meet and greet, artist gifts, towels, wardrobe, merchandise and more

  • Other learning assignments as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school earning school credit.

  • Must be eligible for school credit (and supply a letter from sponsor/administrator upon request).

  • A degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Communications is preferred, but not required.

  • Maximum 20 hours per week.

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.

  • Detail-oriented and exceptional attention to detail is a MUST.

  • Eager to learn and be proactive with new tasks.

  • The ability to conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.

  • High proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

We are currently searching for a qualified individual to fill this internship position for the Summer 2019 semester.

This internship MUST BE for college credit and runs from June - August. It is a non-paid position with flexible hours to reflect the need of your college credit requirements.
