Director of Operations

Location: Chongqing, China

Job Summary:

This preferably bi-lingual position is responsible for providing the strategic and operational direction of all departments in the Operations Division including Rides, Park Services, Guest Services, Security, Entertainment and Aquatics. Provides direct supervision to full time Managers and their departments while supporting and delivering guest focused initiatives. Develops and administers division business plans, policies, procedures and budgets. Works directly with operations team to ensure Six Flags standards are being implemented and maintained.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operational and safety auditing of rides and attractions.

  • Directing and holding team accountable for Six Flags Operational Guidelines, policies and standard operating procedures that are operational procedures developed for all positions of Operations Division. Standard Operating Procedures provide step-by-step detail of how the operation at the ride or attraction is to be conducted to ensure the safe and efficient operation of that ride and/or attraction.

  • Responsible for the daily application and supervision of the certified ride operator training procedures. This includes ensuring that all policies, procedures, and documentation are being handled according to the Six Flags Operational Guidelines and Policies.

  • Ensuring the park’s primary objective of delivering a memorable experience to all of our Guests is met by managing the ride experience and delivering operational excellence across the entire Operations Division.

  • Responsible for constant communications between rides and maintenance ensuring this important synergy in operations and delivering the best service to our guests.

  • Develops department specific business plans and ensures their coordination into the Park and Companywide goals along with preparing and presenting annual budgets and monthly financial forecasts including capital, labor, and expenses.

  • Oversee staffing and control labor expenditures for department.

  • Manage, develop, and evaluate the performance of all full time and seasonal staff.

  • Ensure that all team members are properly trained and equipped to perform their job responsibilities.

  • Interface with Six Flags Corporate and direct local operations team to ensure company goals are met.

  • Support the company mantra; friendly, clean, fast and safe service.

  • Maintain guest satisfaction levels in all GSS scored categories.

  • Ensure all Federal, State, Local, and park regulations are being adhered to within areas of responsibility.

  • Adhere to all department and company safety policies.

  • Serve as Park Duty manager as assigned.

  • Enforce all park policies and procedures and maintain all Six Flags standards.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and communicate in Mandarin is highly desirable.

  • Bachelor’s degree in management (or related field) or equivalent management experience in theme park operations.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a theme park supervisor/manager of operations division including the important rides department.

  • Familiar with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) F770-93, Standard Practice for operations procedures for amusement rides and devices, section 4, Owner/Operator responsibility

  • Familiar with the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) guidelines to establish effective operation programs for amusement parks and attractions

  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be professional, energetic, self-motivated, be able to motivate others, and have a positive attitude.

  • Experience supervising large teams and interfacing with all levels of management.

  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work productively across various departments.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple operations.

  • Budget planning experience and proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Flexible schedule required including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Ability to understand and communicate in Mandarin is highly desirable.
