Primary Focus:

Perform preventive maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting and repair of all rotating and associated equipment, including valves, tank mixers, pumps, motors, turbine and/or PD meters, sampling systems, relief systems, and material balance systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and safety.

Also responsible for Emergency Response including First Responder duties, containment and clean-up, as well as technical on-call to provide 7 day X 24 hr coverage.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accurate documentation and records of all duties as listed in primary focus by use of programs such as Maximo, eSource, Encompass and Safe Work Permits.

  • Wide responsibility in regards to construction which may include installing, inspecting, and/or commissioning of new equipment key to pipeline operation.

  • Applies excellent interpersonal skills with internal staff, external departments and customers to ensure that all maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment is carried out safely and efficiently.

  • Is familiar and complies with the guidelines and procedures set out in the various company manuals.

  • All mechanical work is prioritized to ensure the operation of our pipeline continues as required by Control Centre Operations. This includes providing on-call services for after hour requests in order to repair failed equipment.

  • By possessing a thorough knowledge of piping, valve configuration, and procedures for public safety the Senior Mechanical Technologist may assume the role of First Responder to Pipeline, Station and Terminal emergencies and be involved in all phases of response, including securing the site, containment and clean-up.

  • Maintain Company tools and equipment as well as assigned on-call vehicle in safe working condition.

  • Exercise and possess excellent safety standards in daily work, including safe driving, attending safety meetings, participating in annual Emergency Response exercises and safety training, and following all Company policies and procedures.

  • Repairs and maintenance of wind turbine equipment as it relates to their area of operation.

Qualifications:

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Journeyman Certification in a Mechanical Field

  • Valid driver’s license and a clean drivers abstract

  • Strong interpersonal, communications and interactive people skills

  • Knowledge of instruments required for troubleshooting, monitoring or analyzing rotating equipment parameters or problems such as laser alignment or vibration analysis

  • Proven strong work ethic, good computer skills, a willingness to learn and a helpful positive team attitude.

  • This position requires repetitive lifting, bending, crouching, standing and lifting up to 50 lbs on a repetitive basis, physically demanding outdoor work.

  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo various background screening that includes but is not limited to 5 year driving record, criminal check and a company sponsored medical.

Preferred:

  • 2 – 4 years of directly related industrial experience

  • Possess essential computer skills to work with existing and developing programs such as Maximo, MS Office, Webcad, Microsoft Outlook, eSource, and a variety of equipment analysis interfaces and dataloggers.

  • Blue Print reading is an asset.

  • Analytical skills for problem analysis are an asset.
