We seek a Director, Therapy Area Engagement, Global Commercial Digital (GCD) to be accountable for working with their respective Therapy Area Leadership Team (TALT) and Global Marketing Heads to develop effective digital strategies using innovative content, customer-centric programs and multi-channel campaigns designed to amplify the science of AZ’s medicines. The candidate will have deep skills in digital marketing and effectively engages, influences and challenges key partners to gain support for demonstrating GCD capabilities and to operationalize GCD programs. This individual ensures customer happiness and represents business demand for continuous improvement of existing GCD capabilities.

As the Director, GCD, you will understand the evolving digital ecosystem (technology, tools & devices), and will have an in-depth understanding of the science behind our medicines and experience working across global teams using strong leadership and interpersonal skills. You will have proven cultural awareness and experience to develop and motivate your peers and extended team members located across multiple business unit functions and geography’s in the Global Product and Portfolio Services (GPPS) group and Oncology Business Unit (OBU). You will have in-depth commercial and/or medical experience working across digital channels and touchpoints, strong leadership skills, discernment and solid understanding of process solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define overarching digital/marketing objectives for TA/franchise in partnership with Commercial Leads to promote AZ’s leadership in the Therapeutic Area and influence TA/franchise marketing strategies to connect digital touch points across the business

  • Lead the end-to-end execution (strategy, content creation, media deployment, measurement, optimization, etc.) of above-brand (unbranded) digital campaigns with a focus on patient advocacy and disease education

  • Ensure medical/legal/regulatory compliance of marketing content for campaign’s being led by GCD

  • Ensures communications are cohesive and have a unified message to ensure an optimal customer experience

  • Engage cross-functional partners to provide data, technology and resources to pull-through differentiated solutions

  • Identifies and understands trends in digital ecosystem and customer experience technology so to contribute to the development of innovative solutions designed to support their respective Therapy Area and Global Marketing Franchise strategic plans.

  • Leads the introduction and incorporation of digital standards and emerging standard methodologies into Therapy Area strategies and partners with identified TA Leaders to advance the digital road map for the Therapy Area.

  • Identifies and builds relationships across the teams supporting the Therapy area (GCD, marketing, medical affairs, corporate affairs, regulatory and legal).

  • Works with the GCD capability leads and the global brand teams to steer the development of effective innovative content to be used across the spectrum of digital technology, tools, devices and touch points in support of AZ’s goals.

  • Leads communications to GPPS/OBU leadership teams (TALT and Global Marketing Franchise Heads) about GCO-led programs and projects including updates on achievements, funding required and timelines.

  • Secures endorsement and sponsorship and collaborates with the GCD Market Engagement Team to scale programs and align on target market deployment.

  • Works with peers across GCD and the global brand teams to design scalable customer-centric programs and multi-channel programs, aligned to the global Therapy Area strategies to drive awareness, trial and use of AZs medicines.

  • Identifies potential new GCD capabilities to support the expansion and impact of digital technology and supports colleagues to fully incorporate them into their road map.

  • Uses utilization metrics and reporting to communicate overall adoption of and satisfaction with GCD services. Where there are gaps, works with GCD and TALT, and Global Marketing Franchises to find opportunities for improvement to increase efficiency.

  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding and application of all relevant policies, procedures and operational frameworks and ensures GCD colleagues and indirect reports align with all appropriate AZ Code of Conduct policies and procedures.

Core Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred

  • Solid leadership experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, consulting and/or advertising industries

  • Extraordinary strategic thinking, judgement and executive influencing skills

  • Demonstrated experience defining digital strategies to serve the needs of patients, caregivers and/or healthcare providers that provide business impact

  • Clear understanding of the external landscape and critical trends in consumer and enterprise digital health and wellness technologies impacting AstraZeneca

  • Oral and written fluency in Business English

  • Program management understanding and practice

  • Experience in business cases development through strategic insight and sound financial business acumen.

  • Demonstrated experience building trusted relationships with Sr. Leadership and other key partners
