Group GC provides strategic legal and regulatory advice to the Board of Directors and the Executive Board. Group GC is also responsible for all litigation and for all corporate legal matters on Group and Divisional level. It provides oversight of and guidance to the Divisional GCs, and conducts investigations, beyond a certain materiality and for major relevance, and has the lead on enforcement matters. Group GC sets and maintains group-wide legal risk frameworks and monitors, assesses and influences relevant political, social and environmental developments and issues affecting the bank as well as clients.
Divisional General Counsels are responsible for the day-to-day legal advisory of the divisions. They operate subject to guidelines set by Group General Counsel.
As Country Lawyer in the General Counsel division in Frankfurt, your responsibilities include:
Providing legal advice and support to the various IB Capital Markets and Global Markets businesses in Germany, with a focus on capital markets, M&A and lending transactions as well as equities and fixed income sales and trading businesses;
Dedicated and day-to-day mentorship on structuring and execution of specific transactions, existing laws and regulations and regulatory developments; analyzing legal questions arising in the operating businesses and other areas of the bank;
Drafting and negotiation of transaction documentation;
Partnering and effective collaboration with all business teams and other corporate functions;
Participating in internal decision processes and committee meetings; exercising an independent challenge and control role for Credit Suisse in Germany;
Managing the retention and ongoing relationship with outside counsel and other external legal service providers;
Support with regulatory change initiatives in collaboration with Compliance Office (Chief Compliance Regulatory Officer (CCRO));
Ensuring appropriate coordination and collaboration with GC teams in the London office as well as other GC teams globally (e.g., APAC and IWM).
Educated to degree level in an eminent Law School, you are a fully qualified German lawyer;
Proven and meaningful experience in international law firm or Investment Bank which enabled you with deep understanding of financial products;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
You are fluent in German and English;
Acclaimed self-starter, you have strong abilities to work independently with little direction or oversight;
You love to work in fast-paced environment with many timely demands from internal business clients as well as external regulators;
Very good analytical and problem-solving skills;
You have valuable expertise in German financial regulations and broad knowledge of capital markets, M&A and lending transactions, equities and fixed income sales and trading businesses and the documentation pertaining to it.
