Specific Responsibilities

This Director will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation and execution of the Sourcing process (from assessing spend and markets, developing category strategies to expecting deals and supplier management) for Gilead’s Travel spend as well as other sales and marketing spend as time allows. He/she will understand the business/company requirements and align Sourcing’s support to the business needs in order to maximize value.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

• Responsible for the leadership and strategic vision of the Travel category (and other sales and marketing categories as time allows)

• Business partner engagement and development of Stakeholder relationships (e.g. regular communications, discussions around spend, savings and strategy, managing operating models and SLAs (e.g. engagement thresholds))

• Accountable for optimizing supplier partnerships to drive key business results

• Lead cross functional teams to collaboratively developing and managing category strategies

• Identify, engage and influence business partners; gathering industry and individual subject-matter insights/business requirements to ensure sourcing solutions meet business needs

• Prioritize initiatives based on opportunity defined by engagement criteria

• Lead multiple simultaneous strategic sourcing initiatives, leveraging established strategic sourcing guidelines and processes as well as change-management know-how.

• Manage the planning and launch of RFx’s, as well as lead supplier price and contract negotiations

• Implementation of a supplier management program within assigned categories

• Contribute as thought leader to the broader Sourcing organization
