Job Description

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

In this role, the Senior Manager will be responsible for

Managing the tasks, activities, and people supporting one or more therapeutic areas (franchises).

High level individual contributor who manages projects of significant complexity requiring cross functional collaboration

Key functions of this role, include the following::

Strategic Planning

Plan out U.S. Commercial analytics and reporting initiatives for marketing management and sales forces supporting managed markets in existing brands, and/or new therapeutic areas.

Develops and manages strategic framework to support stakeholders, key initiatives and budgets for function to support therapeutic area (franchise) needs.


Applies strategic thinking and communicates highly complex analytical processes in a clear and concise manner.

Accountable for success of critical department projects and initiatives.

Accountable for and management of sales/marketing analytics, reporting, targeting and alignment for managed markets to existing therapies, and/or new product launches.

Responsible for and demonstrates excellence in the most complex types of analyses and for presenting findings and recommendations to senior management.

Conduct and manage national, regional, and territory level analytics for sales and marketing management to determine potential risks & opportunities for the sales team.

Provide reliable and accurate analyses and reports to various functions to support management’s decisions on physician or managed care targeting, marketing initiatives, production planning, and sales force compensation.

Independently leads projects and coordinates input from cross-functional teams and external vendors.

Proactively recommend and implement improvements to reports, models, systems and standardized templates to ensure usability for customers

Stakeholder Management

Interacts with a broad range of internal customers ranging from VP, directors, field sales reps, marketing, and IT.

Daily interaction with marketing, field sales management, and commercial operations teams across several initiatives.

Establishes and maintains business relationships in key segments of the Commercial organization, and consistently demonstrating a thorough understanding of internal customers’ business needs.

Viewed as a cross-functional subject matter expert, and sought for advice on decisions that can impact business operations.

Lead and conduct quarterly functional review with key VP, Senior Director, and stakeholders on business unit and domain area (Anti-viral, Cardio-pulmonary & Oncology, or Managed Markets) to share insights and analysis on relevant business, brand, and market issues

People Management

Management of projects, tasks, and activities of one or more direct reports (up to 4).

Coaching, mentoring, and career development of key individual contributors.

Management and relationship development with key stakeholder groups in Marketing and Sales.

Management of external consulting resources from a project delivery perspective.


Business ownership and management of IT and vendor execution of data management and reporting operations across all supporting therapeutic areas.


Serve as subject matter expert and provide analytical support or training to other departments or functions.

Collaborate with various Company functions, to analyze operational requirements for reports, document system enhancements and implement system changes.

Coordinate with IT and external data vendors to support reporting and systems requirements.

Research and resolve questions pertaining to data received from vendors.

Manage ongoing business relationships with data vendors, consultants and selected partners.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

Strong analytics and people management skills. Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience managing projects, initiatives, and, people, and initiatives.

Strong collaboration skills. Minimum of 5 years working across multiple stakeholder groups and cross-functional initiatives. Experience from initiating initiatives to successful delivery and operations is required.

Strong working knowledge of relevant software systems (e.g. MS Excel, Access, MS Word & PowerPoint, etc.) is required.

Knowledge of SQL, and/or other BI tools (Tableau, Microstrategy, etc.) or analytics tools (R, Alteryx, RapidMiner, etc.) is preferred.

In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical syndicated prescriber and payer data (e.g., WKH/SHA, IMS, etc.) is required.

MBA or Masters degree required. Preferred concentrations in one or more of healthcare, general management, analytics, and data sciences.

Minimum of 7+ years relevant work experience in pharmaceutical industry related roles, or pharmaceutical industry consulting.
